Fighter Sports players shine at

Hoshiarpur/Sept 5/Daljeet Ajnoha — Players from the Fighter Sports zone delivered an impressive performance at a Shorin Ryu Karate-Kobudo kata and kumite seminar organised by the Amateur Karate Do Association (Regd) India in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, with chief guest Rajiv Walia urging parents to channel youth energy into sport to keep them away from drugs.

The seminar, conducted by Sensei Som Kumar, focused on exposing participants to new karate techniques and sharpening their kata and kumite skills. Chairman Akshit Verma, principal Ruchi Sharma and Young Sports Welfare Board and Amateur Karate Do Association president Rajiv Walia attended as special guests to encourage the trainees.
Sensei Som Kumar said Fighter Sports zone athletes Gurnoor Singh, Muskan, Lili, Akashdeep Singh, Gurjat Singh, Harpreet Kaur, Rabia, Manpreet Kaur, Sagar and Rehan Walia put up a strong showing during the training and assessment sessions. At the closing ceremony, Verma, Walia, Sharma and Kumar conferred certificates and medals on all participants and wished them continued success.
Walia’s message: sport as antidote to drugs
Walia noted that the seminar helped players learn advanced karate techniques and perform well under observation. He warned that society today faces a “silent enemy” that is hollowing out the younger generation from within without any weapon—drug abuse. “A sportsperson’s greatest strength is a healthy body and a strong mental resolve,” he said, appealing to parents to link their children to some sport or physical activity to safeguard their future against addiction.
