Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/May 12 : Ten progressive farmers associated with PAU–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur were honoured during the ‘Sustainable Agriculture and Crop Residue Management Summit’ organized at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana for their valuable contribution towards sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.
Giving further details of this event, Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training), KVK Hoshiarpur informed that this summit was presided over by Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Dr. Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education and Dr. Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Director of Research, PAU, Ludhiana also graced the occasion. The programme was jointly organized by Punjab Agricultural University, Clean Air Punjab, Sanjh and Aasra organisations with the objective of encouraging “Green Champions” who have successfully managed crop residue without burning stubble and adopted modern agricultural practices for environmental protection.
During the event, Onkar Singh and Kulvir Singh from village Thinda, Kulwant Singh Gill and Jagdeep Singh from village Paddi Sura Singh, Ramandeep Singh from village Saila Khurd, Balwinder Singh and Bakhtawar Singh from village Bham, Jaspal Singh from village Khanpur, Harnek Singh and Bali Singh from village Rasoolpur were specially honoured for adopting eco-friendly farming practices and effective crop residue management techniques.
